As we mark our 11th anniversary at Meyerkord, Russell & Hergott, we’re proud to reflect on our journey since opening our doors in May 2014. What began as a vision to create a different kind of personal injury firm has grown into one of Kansas City’s most trusted legal teams.
Our Journey: 11 Years of Fighting for Justice
The foundation of MRH Law began in 2008 when Matt Meyerkord established his first practice. In 2011, he partnered with Brian Russell, and they were joined by Nick Hergott in 2014 to form the firm as it stands today.
Over these 11 years, our approach has remained consistent: we don’t take every case that comes our way. Instead, we selectively choose cases we believe in and then go all-in to maximize results. This philosophy has allowed us to recover over $20 million for our clients, including multiple seven-figure settlements and verdicts that other firms had rejected.

Katelyn Ryan joined our team in May 2016. With her background in psychology and sociology, Katelyn excels at building relationships with clients during traumatic and uncertain situations. Her dedication to working closely with our attorneys ensures the best possible outcomes for our clients.
Erin Hessenflow came aboard in February 2018. With nearly 20 years of legal experience on both defense and plaintiff sides, she brings invaluable perspective to our team. Her active involvement in the Kansas City Paralegal Association and volunteer work with the Midwest Innocence Project reflects her commitment to the legal community.
Most recently, Jenna Toone joined us in October 2023. Jenna brings a unique background in customer service as a licensed hairdresser and a passion for civil litigation. Her ability to connect with people and her interest in the investigative aspects of personal injury cases make her a valuable addition to our team.
